Result 4: Increased awareness of wildlife crime and improved knowledge management and gender integration to combat wildlife and forest-related crimes.

Product 4.1: A women’s empowerment strategy has been developed and used to guide project implementation.

  • Activity 4.1.1: Develop a gender mainstreaming strategy within the ESMF framework of the 3 target PAs.
  • Activity 4.1.2: Strengthen and raise gender awareness among NIEDD officers and other stakeholders such as VOIs, patrol agents, and KMDT members in the Anosy/Androy regions.
  • Activity 4.1.3: Update the strategy annually as part of the project’s adaptive management (monitoring, evaluation, knowledge management, and communication).

Product 4.2: A participatory monitoring and evaluation framework and a learning framework for the project are developed and implemented.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Coordination

  • Activity 5.1: Ensure planning and preparation of periodic technical and financial project reports.

  • Activity 5.3: Ensure follow-up and coordination of project activities.
  • Activity 5.4: Participate in national events related to the project (World Environment Day, International Women’s Day, Biodiversity Day, Festivals, etc.).

Efficient Project Management

  • Activity 6.4: Recruit an auditing firm to verify project accounts.

Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanisms and PTA Implementation Coordination

  • Implementation monitoring based on the overall project results framework, indicators, and annual targets.
  • Dashboard for continuous monitoring, integrating internal field monitoring by the project team and supervision missions from donors (UN Environment/GEF).
  • Reporting/data publication/lesson sharing: periodic technical and financial reports in accordance with the general M&E plan.
  • GEF tracking tools (PIR) completed according to the required schedule.
