Nitidae · October 22, 2026
As part of the project "Sustainable Management of Conservation Areas and Improvement of Livelihoods to Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Madagascar" (PA-CIWT), implemented by the NGO Nitidæ, a community monitoring and support mission was carried out in the municipalities of Marovato and Tranovaho in the Androy region.
Agricultural equipment to improve production:
In Bevala, in Marovato, 50 ploughs and 200 ploughs were distributed to 200 beneficiaries from 10 Fokontany, notably within the VOI Mitsinjo and the peasants around Cap Sainte Marie reserve.
This allocation is intended to facilitate agricultural work, strengthen the productive capacities of households and contribute to improving their food security and income.
Follow-up of goat farming activities:
The mission also monitored previous goat rearing activities
supported by the project.
Visits were made to Bevala, Marovato municipality, and Lavanono, Tranovaho municipality, to assess the evolution of activities, to exchange with beneficiaries and to support them in improving their breeding practices.
Beneficiaries have also been made aware of the importance of the maintenance and improvement of goat farms in order to ensure better breeding conditions and the sustainability of this income-generating activity.
Collective support for local development:
These activities were conducted under the direction of Mr HERMAN Reminantenaina, Secretary General of the Anôsy Region, with the participation of representatives of the technical services and local actors, including the DREDD Androy, the DRASA Androy, the UGP PA-CIWT, as well as representatives of the Nitidæ NGO and community organizations.
Beyond the distribution of materials, the PA-CIWT focuses on providing support, monitoring and accountability to beneficiaries through the management, monitoring and traceability of the equipment at their disposal.
The objective is clear: to strengthen the livelihoods of communities, to improve their incomes in a sustainable manner, thereby helping to reduce pressure on natural resources and to combat wildlife trafficking.
